Laura Werlin
Laura Werlin is thrilled to be making her return to the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen. A popular cheese seminar presenter, Laura is one of America’s foremost authorities on the world’s best foods (say cheese!), having been honored with a prestigious James Beard Foundation award for her book, The All American Cheese and Wine Book and a nomination for her fourth book, Laura Werlin’s Cheese Essentials. In addition, she has written three other books, all on cheese.Â
In case you didn’t catch the drift, Laura is passionate about cheese. This translates to her ability to both educate and entertain (edu-tain!), making her a popular speaker at food and wine events across the country as well as with corporate, consumer, and trade organizations. She is often tapped by wineries to lead cheese and wine pairings as well.Â
In addition to the Food & Wine Classic, her seminars are among the fastest to fill up at the Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta, Wisconsin Art of Cheese Festival, Pebble Beach Food & Wine, California’s Artisan Cheese Festival, and the Healdsburg Wine & Food Experience among several others.
So deep is Laura’s love for cheese, that she is now tackling her seventh book – this time on the world’s most noteworthy cheeses. Six continents, 300 cheeses. It is set to be released in 2027.Â
Laura’s expertise has led to many local and national television appearances including the Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family, Oprah.com, CNN, QVC, and the Martha Stewart Show. Prior to writing about cheese, her career was in television news. Â
On those rare occasions when she isn’t eating, buying, serving, or teaching about cheese, Laura will invariably be found at a farmer’s market, having jogged to get there (a sacred Saturday morning routine), walking around the streets of San Francisco where she lives, or hiking in the mountains, which she loves.
