Aretah Ettarh

Aretah Ettarh is the Chef de Cuisine of Gramercy Tavern. While attending the University of Delaware to receive her BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Aretah worked at a campus-based, student-run restaurant called Vita Nova, where she fell in love with the art of cooking. Upon graduation, Aretah pursued additional studies at The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, where she earned an Accelerated Culinary Arts Certificate.

Upon graduating in 2015, Aretah moved to New York and began her career at Jean Georges and Nougatine at Jean Georges. During her time living in New York, she would often dine at Gramercy Tavern, and in September 2016, inspired by the food and the service she experienced as a guest, Aretah joined the team herself. Throughout her past five years, she has enjoyed mentoring her fellow staff, assisting in menu development, and refining both her creative and technical skills. Aretah is a recipient of the Le Foundation grant and participates in the Women in Culinary and Spirits Mentee Program, which enables her to engage with fellow restaurant colleagues across the US.
