Julian Kurland is the co-founder of Bar Etoile, a Hollywood restaurant blending Parisian bistro spirit with a Californian sensibility. With over 15 years in hospitality across New York and Los Angeles, he leads the restaurant’s wine program—focused on natural, small-production wines—and shapes a service style that is warm, attentive, and refined yet approachable. He began his career after training at the French Culinary Institute, moving from the kitchen into leadership roles including Beer Director and AGM at The Cannibal Beer & Butcher. After returning to Los Angeles, he opened The Cannibal in Culver City, helped reopen The Rose Café, and later served as GM and Wine Director at Native. He joined Domaine LA in 2018 before opening Bar Etoile in 2024.
